About this revival
This is an unofficial revival of the LearnDB lookup from Crawl Monster Info. It brings back the old design with live search and DCSS tiles. It uses a fixed LearnDB snapshot; the date is shown under Snapshot details. It does not restore the old Gretell monster-stat service.
In a public reply, Sequell host gammafunk said he had taken over hosting from greensnark. The old LearnDB host was down, and the crawl.develz.org lookup would return after he set up a suitable data-mirroring service. Read gammafunk's explanation.
Checked on 5 September 2026: the old lookup returned 404, while the main DCSS website and the current LearnDB data page were available. The data page showed an update dated 5 September 2026. The original lookup may return; its maintainer did not describe it as permanently closed.
Tile artwork

This site uses tiles from DCSS 0.34.1 for 1477 LearnDB topics. Result tiles appear at twice their original size; suggestion tiles use their original size. Aliases and numbered entries use the tile for their topic.
Some topics describe more than one thing. These use a representative tile. A tile shows appearance; it does not add monster statistics or update the LearnDB text. Topics without a clear match remain text-only.
The tile sheet is a fixed copy, stored with this site. It does not fetch images from a game server.

The artwork keeps its upstream licenses. The DCSS license describes the mixed licensing of older tiles; this site does not relabel all artwork as CC0.
Original site design
The colors, typography, controls, and background artwork come from the archived Crawl Monster Info site. The background is its original Sigmund artwork. The interface adapts that layout for live LearnDB lookup and small screens.
